Position Title: Child Nutrition Manager
Department: Assigned building
Reports To: Food Service Director
Evaluated By: Food Service Director
Position is directly responsible to the Child Nutrition Director; indirectly responsible to the building Principal where assigned.
Training / Educational Requirements:
a. Ability to read and write legibly. Must be able to perform basic math operations involving addition,
subtraction, multiplication , division, decimals, fractions and ratios.
b. Must complete Child Nutrition Manager’s Certification Course within three years of employment as a
manager for the district. This course is administered by the Child Nutrition Unit of the Arkansas
Department of Education.
c. Must be familiar with, or able to learn operation of a computer and necessary software for the
purpose of financial accountability, ordering food and supplies and communication.
d. Must demonstrate proficiency in quantity food production, food safety and
the operation, sanitation and care of food service equipment.
Duties:
a. Responsible for the overall operation of the food service department in the building where assigned.
b. Supervises child nutrition workers assigned to his/her facility, including training, duty assignments,
discipline, time accountability and safety.
c. Responsible for ordering and receiving food and supplies, including maintaining appropriate food
safety measures for receiving, storing, preparing and serving of food.
d. Responsible for supervising the preparation and service of the approved menus within the
guidelines of the USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations, State health Department
codes and district Standard Operating Procedures.
e. Responsible for maintaining accurate student records of eligibility status, account balances and meal
records, meal production reports, financial reports and any and all other reporting as assigned by
Director.
f. Responsible for maintaining equipment and work environment in a clean and safe condition and
reporting any malfunctions of equipment or facility maintenance needs directly to the Food Service
Director.
g. Must maintain a positive and cooperative demeanor with school administrators and teaching staff ,
support staff , food service employees, students and patrons that is consistent with a moral and
supportive example as a school employee.
